BAREILLY: Eight coaches of Lucknow-bound Meerut-Lucknow Rajya Rani Express derailed near Rampur in Uttar Pradesh at 8.15am on Saturday.
Top railways officials, including Moradabad DRM Pramod Kumar, rushed to the spot after the incident happened. Several medical units have been pressed into action.
According to sources, over 10 people received injuries, but no one was severely hurt. Operations on the Delhi-Lucknow route have been severely hit as dozens of trains have been indefinitely delayed and several stand cancelled, officials told media.
Scores of local passengers were stranded at Bareilly Junction as Aligarh passenger train among many other trains were cancelled. Commuters created ruckus as many demanded refund of tickets while others ran from pillar to post to enquire about alternate arrangements to commute.
